What are you going to do?

The annual conference of the European Network on Clinical Legal Education (ENCLE) will take place in July 2024, and this year it will be hosted by the Faculty of Law (FdR) of the University of Amsterdam. Clinical legal education is a form of experiential legal education in which students gain experience working with real clients and providing legal advice, thereby developing their skills, gaining experience and expanding their network.

The ENCLE conference will bring together those interested in Clinical Legal Education from Europe, as well as from the US, Australia and South Africa, to discuss this unique form of education, share best practices and the challenges it faces. For the FdR, this is a unique opportunity to promote our own clinical programme, gain inspiration and network.

For the organisation of this conference, we are looking for someone who is willing to get their shoulders to the wheel from the end of May/beginning of June to get such a large event off the ground in a short period of time (we estimate that 150 participants will attend). The functional management will be in the hands of the Director of the Amsterdam Law Clinics and the Coordinator of the Amsterdam Law Practice.

What do you bring?

We are looking for a student with organisational skills who would like to contribute to the realisation of the conference on clinical legal education. We are looking for someone who preferably, but not necessarily, has a legal background (academic or HBO) and an affinity for academic education, particularly clinical legal education. You will be in your third or fourth year of study. You are enthusiastic, solution-oriented, systematic and proactive.   • Strong communication skills;
  • Experience in writing documents, websites and social media;
  • an excellent command of English, both verbal and written.

We offer an employment contract for a period of two months (the duration of the project), preferably starting May 27, 2024. The employment contract is for at least 8 hours per week. This number will increase as the conference approaches. During the week of the conference, we expect you to be available before for 19 hours per week.
